Heaven gained another angel when Betty M. Garland, 76, of Mercersburg, PA passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.  Born February 21, 1947 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Irvin and Ida Mae (Brechbill) Flory.

She and her husband, Ernest J Garland, were married on June 12, 1964, in Hagerstown MD.  Betty had a heart of gold, always giving and full of life. Her gift was making someone laugh. She loved sewing, cooking, gardening, and most of all her family. Her unconditional love and care shined through her fulltime care for her disabled son.

Betty was a member of the Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church and Branch Church of the Brethren. She shared her love of God by coloring pictures and giving them to nurses and doctors who cared for her since January 2023 in hospitals and nursing homes.

She is survived by her daughter: Coralee Leab and her husband Rodney of Greencastle, PA; son Timothy Garland of Mercersburg PA; three grandchildren: Brandalyn Leab of Martinsburg, WV; Clayton Leab of Hollidaysburg, PA and Dalton Leab of Martinsburg, WV and one brother Tom Flory.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ernie J Garland, Jr and one brother, Robert Flory.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at West Side Brethren in Christ Church, 2665 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17202 from 3 – 4 pm with Pastor W. David Kent officiating. Meal following service.   www.agettlakjer.com
