Betty L. Hockenberry, 78, a longtime resident of Doylesburg, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2022, in Chambersburg Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of Leonard B. Hockenberry. They celebrated their 59 ^th wedding anniversary on June 15 ^th .

Born November 28, 1943 in Doylesburg, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Alice (O'Donnell) Fleagle.  Betty graduated from Fannett-Metal High School in 1962.

After high school she became a seamstress before traveling with her husband during his 20 year career in the Air Force. She worked in retail at the base PX in Lancaster, CA and Anchorage, AK .  She played softball at Edwards Air Force Base as well as with the team in Lancaster, CA and later in Fannettsburg when she returned to Path Valley.  She loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisher.  She enjoyed traveling the country and the world with Leonard, taking pictures and movies to chronicle their adventures.

Betty was a member of the Dry Run Covenant Brethren Church and faithfully participated with the Path Valley Shoebox Project.  She was a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross and an active member of the Doylesburg Community Center.  Betty served as Judge of Elections and was a member of the American Legion McCartney Post 232 Auxiliary, Spring Run.  In addition, she was a member of the Fannett Metal Fire Co., and the Fannett Metal Rod and Gun Club.

She was dedicated to her family, her community, and her country.

Surviving with her husband are 2 brothers, Dale Fleagle and his wife, Judy, of Falling Waters,WV and Paul Fleagle and his wife, Jocelyn, of Fort Loudon, and a sister, Grace Shearer and her husband, Paul, of Mt. Joy.  Those also cherishing her memory include several generations of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Piper, and 4 brothers, Jesse, James, Wilbur and Richard Fleagle.

There will be a viewing Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 6 to 8 PM and again Thursday at 10 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, PA with Pastors Wayne Hall and Darwin Goshorn officiating.  Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory are preferred to either the Dry Run Covenant Brethren Church, P.O.
