Bonnie L. Hockenberry, 81, of Willow Hill, entered into rest February 27, 2024, in Mercy House of Chambersburg.  She was the loving wife of Leonard  E. Hockenberry, they were married July 7, 2001 and then renewed their wedding vows Sept. 19, 2020.

Born January 30, 1943, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Mary (Runk) Neil.  She grew up in Mountain Green, lived for a time in Roxbury, and returned to her hometown of Mountain Green.

She was practicing certified domiciliary care in her home and provided care to special needs adults and was passionate about the attention she gave to them.

In addition to being a respected caregiver and homemaker, she is also remembered as being strong-willed, determined and liked to make folks laugh.  Bonnie enjoyed cooking, baking, watching the birds, playing cards, music and home decorating. Family camping and annual overnight shopping trips with her daughters brought her much enjoyment.

In addition to her husband, Leonard, surviving are 5 children: Teresa Breakall (Jeff Swope), Amberson; Cathy Wadel (Keith), Dry Run; Sondra Stacey (Terry), Altoona; Brenda Perry (Tony), Newburg and Johnny Miller (Star Ann Gallagher), Burnt Cabins; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.  Additional survivors include 4 siblings, Patsy Sollenberger (Samuel), Chambersburg; Connie Wadel ( John) St. Thomas; Simon Neil (Delores)  and Richard Neil (Neva) of Mountain Green.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, John  A. Miller, a granddaughter, Shuana R. Breakall, a grandson, Alex W. Wadel, a sister, Goldie Wagner and 2 brothers, Ronald and Harry Neil.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2 at 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastors, Marlin "Butch" Neil and Samuel Sollenberger, officiating.  The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations to Mercy House, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA  17201. https://mercyhouseofchambersburg.org/make-a-gift/ www.agettlakjer.com
