Darwin L. "Jim" Smith, Sr., 74, of East Waterford, passed away Dec. 15, 2021.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Karen L. (Peterson) Smith.

Born February 1, 1947, in East Waterford, he was a son of the late Wayne O. and Helen (Goshorn) Smith.  He graduated from Blain Union High School in 1964.

Jim had been employed at Hoffman Mills in Shippensburg until retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed spending time and hunting with his beagles, but his daughter, Billie's dog, Emma, was his special friend.

Surviving with his wife are 5 children:  Darwin L. Smith, Jr., of East Waterford, Leslie Smith and Donna Smith-Wright, both of Texas, Billie Smith of Shippensburg and Randy Smith, of East Waterford; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother, Harold Smith of East Waterford and 2 sisters, Helen Amey (Robert) of East Waterford and Sharon Lilley of Port Royal and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Burdge and a brother, John Smith.
