Dennis Ray Hess, 64, of Willow Hill, PA, passed unexpectedly in his home on June 12, 2024.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Cherri L. (Reich) Hess.

Born November 1, 1959, in St. Joseph, Missouri, he was a son of Dorothy Jane (Limley) Hess Legg, of St. Joseph and the late Donald E. Hess.

Dennis graduated from Savannah High School in 1978 and later received an associate's degree in civil engineering from Platte College.  As a mechanic he worked at Kmart, Sears, the Tadlock Tire Company and the Snorkel Man Lift Company.  In 1996 he took employment with JLG and the company moved his family to Pennsylvania.  Dennis became a district service manager, wrote training manuals, and held training schools. After 24 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2020.

Dennis was a member of the Franklin County Cyclists and also enjoyed marathoning.  He ran the Baltimore Marathon several times.  He also had a love for woodcarving.  His family fondly recalls him as "Dr. D" "Mr. Fix It" and "The Researcher."

Surviving with his wife and mother are 2 children, Angela Bard (Jim) of Shippensburg, PA and Lukas Hess, Fort Mill, SC, 3 grandchildren, Rebecca  Leib (Ryan), Hanover, PA, Savannah George (Jarred Rudd), Boiling Springs, PA and Grace Bard, Shippensburg, and 3 great grandsons Braxley, Brooks, and  Gunnar Rudd.  Additional survivors include his siblings, Donald Hess, Stewartsville, MO, Diana Latham (Randy) St. Joseph, MO, Dena Ruark (Larry), Savannah, MO and Darrell Hess (Sheri), Weston, MO.  Also surviving are several generations of nieces and nephews along with his beloved dog, Abee, and grand dogs, Porter and Ferguson Leib.  In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Danny Hess.

A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held Friday, July 12, between 6 and 7 PM in the evening at the park pavilion located at 56 Cleversburg Rd. Shippensburg, PA 17257.
