Emma Jane Middaugh, 81, of Doylesburg, went to be with the Lord, March 6, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jesse Leroy Middaugh on October 12, 2022.

Emma was born on June 14, 1941, in Richvale, Huntington County.  She was a daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Mary (Goshorn) Chilcote. She grew up in Richvale and was a member of the 1959 graduating class of Orbisonia-Rockhill High School.  After her marriage to Jesse, they lived in Doylesburg.

Emma was a faithful stay at home mom and grandma who was an accomplished Avon consultant receiving numerous awards and honors over her 20+ years of sales. Even while working hard as an Avon agent, she never missed a chance to watch her children or grandchildren playing sports or winning an award.

Emma previously attended the Doylesburg United Methodist Church and later the Community Evangelical Free church prior to being a member of Spring Run Bible Church.  Her faith in Christ and church attendance were very important to her. She was a committed prayer warrior. She and Jesse would often attend Gospel singing groups in the valley where they would enjoy the music as well as the fellowship with their friends.

She was a very selfless woman who was always willing to set her own needs aside in order to serve her family and her friends. She demonstrated her servant's heart in many ways. She served her community as a member of the Fannett Township Board of Election for many years. She served her church by volunteering to provide snacks to the youth group and vacation bible school. She served her family in countless ways each day living a life that modeled how to love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

Emma enjoyed outdoor activities like gardening, working in her flower beds, watching hummingbirds eat at her feeders, and simply sitting with her husband in front of their house and saying "Hello" to whomever happened to be passing through Doylesburg. Whenever she was indoors she loved to crochet and to do Sudoku. She is fondly remembered as loving her family and cherishing time spent together whether in the home or at "can't miss" social events like the Path Valley or Shape Gap Picnics.

Surviving are 4 children: Jesse Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Dillsburg, Mary of Chambersburg, Roy of Doylesburg and Michael and his wife, Christine, of Spring Run; 8 grandchildren, Lydia Cleary (Kyle), Courtney, Carter, Colton, Isaac, Jie, Ella, and Kaleb and two great granddaughters, Scarlet and Adelynn Cleary.  Also surviving are two brothers, Ralph Chilcote and his wife, Norma, of Chambersburg and Russell Chilcote and his wife, Florine, of St. Thomas and a sister, Darlene Wible of Chambersburg. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law, Betty Chilcote of Dry Run and Evelyn Chilcote of Carlisle and  a brother-in-law, Karl Kline of Cross Keys.

In addition to her husband, Jesse, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Calvin Sr., William "Bill", and Max Chilcote, sister Mae Kline and brother-in-law, Charles "Elwood" Wible.

Her viewing will be Friday, March 10, from 6 to 8 PM and again Saturday after 10 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, PA with Pastor John E.
