Florence M. Boggs, 92, of Fannettsburg and lifelong resident of Path Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 25, 2024 at Mercy House of Chambersburg.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Leo Boggs, in 1996.

Born January 24, 1932, in Fannettsburg, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Lidia (Campbell) Black.  She graduated from Dry Run High School in 1950 and found her first employment at Howard Johnsons on the turnpike.  After that she was a machine operator at Letterkenny and then for 28 years worked at a sewing factory in Chambersburg.  She retired as a houseparent from the Scotland School for Veterans' Children in Chambersburg.  She continued working into her 80's with domestic work.

Even with all this said above, what was of the most importance in her life was her Christian faith and she studied her Bible through and through. Her 5 sons recall her as a good mother, fantastic grandmother, charitable to numerous Christian organizations as well as anyone in need of help. Her family also fondly remembers her love of cooking and upon arrival to her home the typical greeting was "are you hungry?"

Surviving are 5 sons:  Gregory A. (Marguerite), Charleston, SC, David L., Spring Run, Darryl L. (Shelly), Dry Run, Jack D. (Jeannie), Fannettsburg and Gary S., Fannettsburg.  13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thomas and Randall Black and 2 sisters, Lucinda as an infant, and Violet Evans.

Viewing hours Monday evening only, Oct. 28, between 6 and 8 PM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run. Her memorial service will be Tuesday at 10 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Darwin Goshorn, officiating.  Interment Path Valley Cemetery. With Florence's love of children, the family requests the omission of flowers and suggest donations for Christmas Families (these funds are used to purchase Christmas gifts for children in The Valley.)
