Gary Lee Monninger, known by friends as "Griz," 74, of Dry Run, formerly of Greencastle, passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by loving family on November 10, 2025.  He was the husband of Jacquelyn L. "Jackie" (Peterson) Monninger.

He was born April 18, 1951, in Greencastle, a son of the late Jacob and Pauline (Rowe) Monninger. He attended school in Greencastle.

Gary was a carpenter and retired from Waynesboro Construction.

His favorite activities were bowling and golfing, along with hunting and fishing.

Surviving with his wife, Jackie, is a stepdaughter, Dena Strait of Shippensburg, and stepson, Scott Naugle (Patricia) of Spring Run and a daughter-in-law, Maria DeHart (John) of Greencastle.  Also surviving are 7 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, a number of great-grandchildren and his brother, Charles Monninger of Greencastle.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith L. Monninger, a stepdaughter, Shawna Naugle, and 2 brothers, Jacob Monninger, Jr. and John Monninger.

A viewing will begin at 10 AM Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 followed by the funeral service at 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastor Marlin "Butch" Neil officiating.  Interment will be in Path Valley Cemetery.  Flowers will be received, or donations may be made to Fannett-Metal Fire & Ambulance Co., PO Box 51, Dry Run, PA 17220.
