Gary B. Snyder, 71, a lifelong resident of Blairs Mills passed away Monday,  November 29, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Oct 30, 1950 in Richvale, Pa he was the son of the late Carl J. and Dorothy (Burdge) Snyder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie D. Snyder on September 6, 2021.

Gary graduated from Southern Huntingdon High School in 1968.  He continued his education at York College where he studied Business Administration for 2 years.  He served honorably during the Vietnam War, discharged as a sergeant receiving the Army Commendation Medal and ribbons in rifle and grenade skills.

He had a 40 year career at Letterkenny Army Depot until retiring in 2013.  Gary currently worked for Empire Kosher until his death.   He was a member of the Mifflintown VFW, Post 5863.

He is survived by two children a son, Bryan L. Snyder and fiancée, Karen Wilkinson of Honey Grove and a daughter, Briana Johnson and fiancé, Aaron Nearhood of Mifflintown,  four siblings, Patsy Hardy of Mifflintown, Pat Snyder and wife, Marti of Shade Gap, Robert Snyder and wife, Connie of Waterloo, and Delores Herzberg and husband, Kurt of Dover Pa.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Morgen Johnson and Brock Nearhood both of Mifflintown, an uncle, Hayes Burdge of East Waterford and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, racing, and watching Penn State games.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 4 at 2 PM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, followed by a memorial service at 3 PM  with Pastor Kurt Herzberg officiating.  The service will conclude with military honors.   wwwagettlakjer.com
