Guy W. Cornell, 89, a longtime resident of Fort Loudon, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024 in Mercy House Hospice, Chambersburg.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Smith) Cornell in 2012.

Born May 11, 1934, in Clearville, Bedford County, he was a son of the late Roy E. and Vida (Collins) Cornell.  He graduated from Everett High School in 1952. Following graduation, in his early years of employment, he hauled milk for his father along with cutting and hauling paper wood. Guy then began a career in the building industry working 40 years with Rockwell Construction until retiring.

He was a member of the Fort Loudon Methodist Church and for many years served as a trustee of the Crystal Spring Camp Meeting, Brush Creek Township, Fulton County. Guy was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles.  His life was marked by a love for family.  Nearly every Sunday he hosted family dinners and visits, the old and the young enjoying much camaraderie.

Surviving are 3 children: Richard E. Cornell (Kimberly) of Lemasters, Jeannie C. Boggs (Jack) of Fannettsburg and Gary L. Cornell (Michele) of Mercersburg.  His loving grandchildren: Brian (Caitlin) Cornell, Troy Boggs, Zachary Mull, Jason (Carrie) Cornell, Jenny Cornell and Bradley (Lori) Boggs and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary O'Neal and Ruth Kieffer and brother, Richard Cornell.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Fort Loudon United Methodist Church, 12781 Main Street, Fort Loudon, PA 17224, April 20, 2024, at 11 AM where the family will receive friends after 10 AM prior to the service.  Interment Stenger Hill Cemetery.  The family suggests the omission of flowers and suggests donations in Guy's name be made to either the Fort Loudon United Methodist Church, address above, or Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.      www.agettlakjer.com
