Guy E. Johnson, 90, a long-time resident of Shade Gap, formerly residing 15 years in St. Thomas, passed away Dec. 4, 2023, in Fulton County Medical Center.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth J. (Helman) Johnson.

Born January 25, 1933, at home in Shade Gap, he was a son of the late Bruce and Mary (Deshong) Johnson.

Guy attended Fairview School in Shade Gap and served in the Army during the Korean War, honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1955.  He had a career of 37 years at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in July, 1988, as an engineer mechanic.

He attended Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church in Shade Gap.  As a mechanic, respectfully called "The Volkswagen Man," Guy enjoyed working on VW's at his home for customers far and wide. He also received satisfaction selling those he restored ready to be enjoyed by their new owner.

Surviving with his wife, Elizabeth, is a daughter, Vickie L. Johnson of Chambersburg and a son, Michael G. Johnson and his wife, Rhonda, of Marysville, PA; 2 grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas Johnson, a brother, Max Johnson of Chambersburg and brother-in-law, Harold Brown of St. Thomas.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne, and 2 sisters, Betty Wenger and Beatrice Brown.

A memorial service will be held December 16, 2023, at 11 AM in the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, 22776 Piper Lane, Shade Gap, PA 17255.  Interment with military honors will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.  After the interment the family will greet friends at a luncheon reception.
