Harry E. Taylor, 77, of Mercersburg, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2026.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Janet (Heckman) Taylor.

Born July 28, 1948, in Roxbury, Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Margaret E. (Metz) Taylor.

Following his graduation from high school in Hagerstown, he served honorably 2 years in the Army during the Vietnam War followed by 10 years in the reserves.  He received the good conduct medal, National Defense Service Medal and was a noted expert with the M-14 rifle.

Mr. Taylor had a career of 40 years with the Washington County Board of Education in Maryland.

Harry was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, Marion, and a firefighter with Hagerstown Engine Number 3.  He enjoyed the outdoors, watching birds and formerly was an avid gardener.

He appreciated the loving care of his wife, Janet, along with the rest of his family, including his son, Jeremy Taylor (Julia), and daughter, Ashley Taylor, his stepsons, Mark Cook (Jackie) and Michael Cook (Melinda).  Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren, and 3 siblings, Harold "Bunny" Taylor, Beverly Stotler and Roger Taylor.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Ricky Taylor and 2 sisters, Rebecca Johnson and Vicky Stitley.

A memorial service with Military Honors with be at the convenience of the family in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, Spring Run, with Pastor Harold Yeager, officiating.  The family would appreciate donations in Harry's name be made to MMP&W Volunteer Fire & Ambulance Co. 130 N.
