James J. Reed, known as "Jum" and "Jinks" 76, of Spring Run, went home with the Lord, August 31, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his loving family and caretakers, Carri and Travis Reed.

Born in Doylesburg, on November 10, 1947, he was the son of the late James A. and Violet I. (Ressinger) Reed.

Jum is fondly remembered as being willing to help anyone as best as he could and had worked as a farm hand for several local farmers.  He could often be found offering assistance to Jay and Drew at the shop.

Previously he enjoyed spending weekends helping at the Path Valley Speedway.  During Path Valley Picnic and Homecoming week, he assisted with the chicken barbeque for Fannett-Metal Fire Co.

Music brought him much enjoyment, and Jinks looked forward to Friday night Country Music with Mike Scott and the Gospel Jammers at the former Brindle's Auctioneering facility and at the Stag Club in Fannettsburg.

For many years, Jum was a faithful member of the Spring Run Bible Church, attending weekly services until his health declined.

Surviving is a brother, Lester Reed and his wife, Cathy, of McCoysville and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 4 siblings, Donald Sr., Carl E., Nancy and Larry Reed.

Viewing Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, between 6 and 8 P.M. in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run and Wed. after 10 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 AM, with Pastor John E. Semple, officiating.  Interment Doylesburg Cemetery.
