Jerrell L. Smith Sr., "Smitty," 77, of Fannettsburg, formerly of Willow Hill and Upper Strasburg, passed away in his home August 10, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie R. (LaPeer) Smith.

"Smitty" was born February 12, 1949, in the Mountain Green section of Metal Township, a son of the late Frank Daniel and Fay (Neil) Smith. He was a self-employed contractor and proprietor of Smitty’s Construction and also for a time produced Smitty’s lighted pictures.

Back when he was able, he was thrilled to do landscaping and gardening. He also enjoyed antiquing, flea marketing, NASCAR and old TV shows. His family recalls how charitable and good hearted he was when he was in business supporting veterans and children’s organizations and his neighbors in “ The Valley “ when there was a need.

Surviving with his wife, Connie, are his children, daughter, Lesa Spedden (Brian) and son, Jerrell Smith Jr. (Jennifer), all of Chambersburg, and a step-daughter, Miranda Mines (Carlos) of Fannettsburg and grandchildren, Javan Burton, whom he raised, of Fannettsburg, Satori and Reese Spedden and Makayla and Kahne Smith all of Chambersburg and Joseph and Jordan Richardson of Harrisburg. Also surviving are his brother, Ronnie Smith (Sue), Upper Strasburg and sister, Anna Snyder (Carl), Willow Hill, sister-in-law, Eleanor “Jean” Smith, Willow Hill and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chandler, and a brother, Eugene “Dean” Smith.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, August 17 between 6 and 7 PM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run. His memorial service will be private.
