John A. McCrae, 79, of East Waterford, passed on to his Lord and Savior, Nov. 28, 2021, in his home.  He is survived by his wife, Teresita (Gonzales) McCrae.

Born in Chambersburg on January 9, 1942, he was a son of the late Jesse George and Lydia (Myers) McCrae.  He was raised in Orrstown and educated in Shippensburg schools.  John worked at Letterkenny for 25 years, where he was a member of the Rod and Gun Club, serving as president in 1975.  He also studied psychology and served as a counselor for Equal Opportunity while at Letterkenny.  After that, he was sent to Saudi Arabia where he was a supervisor of bus transportation during the Gulf War.

Mr. McCrae resided in Horse Valley, Perry County, since 1964. There he built and operated Wildwood Family Resort and Stonehedge Personal Care Home which he and his wife owned and managed for over 26 years.

John was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orrstown and the Patriotic Order Sons of America since age 16.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving with his wife, is a son, John Bradley McCrae and his wife, Kathy, of Chambersburg; a brother, Jesse Dan McCrae and his wife, Karen, of Herman, Missouri and 2 sisters: Linda Kay Loy and her husband, Paul, of Fayetteville, and Patricia Piper of Chambersburg.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda (Holtry) McCrae in 1972 and a brother-in law, Leroy Piper.

His viewing will be Sat., Dec. 4, 2021, after 10 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastors Daryl L. Diller and John E. Semple officiating.
