Joseph Allen McAllen, 71, of Chambersburg, passed away December 9, 2022, in ProMedica Skilled Nursing Facility.  He was born May 20, 1951, in Spring Run, a son of the late John Franklin and Helen Marie (Briggs) McAllen.

Joe endured many challenges in his life and with his health, and was lovingly cared for by his late mother, Helen, as well as his sister, Denise, and other family members. He was positive about overcoming the obstacles that confronted him and had a strong come back with his quick wit.  He firmly held his religious beliefs and was a loving and happy person.  Joe loved cars and music and enjoyed singing in the choir at Falling Springs.

Surviving is his brother, Matthew H. "Sonny" McAllen and his wife, Charlotte, of Willow Hill, and 2 sisters, Barbara McAllen of Chambersburg and Denise L. Helman and her partner, Michael Thomas Smith of Shippensburg and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, L. Franklin McAllen and a sister Eva Jane Maley

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 2 PM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastor Darwin Goshorn officiating.  The family will greet friends prior to the service 1:30 until 2 PM.   Interment Path Valley Cemetery.  www.agettlakjer.com
