Joyce D. Cobern, 68, of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord October 9, 2021, in UPMC, Harrisburg.  She was the beloved wife of A. Doug Cobern.

Born Feb. 19, 1953, in Dry Run, she was a daughter of the late Jacob M. and Omena J. (O'Donnell) Parson Sheeder.  Her stepfather, Jack M. Sheeder also preceded her in death.   She attended Fannett-Metal and Southern Huntingdon Schools.

Joyce loved crocheting, doing puzzle books and using her tablet.

In addition to her husband, Doug, surviving are 6 children: Jacob Mills (Linda) of Burnt Cabins, Gregory Mills (Connie) of Three Springs, Michael Mills (Nicole) of Newburg, Kimberly Stevens (Nevin) of Fort Loudon, Keith Mills (Kristi) of Bluefield, WV, Karen Mills of Neelyton;  3 stepchildren, Donald Johnson of Greencastle, Steven Cobern (Lori) of Raleigh, NC and James Cobern (Dawn) of Martinsburg, WV;  17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.  Additional survivors include 2 brothers, Brett Sheeder (Mildred) and Timothy Sheeder (Cindi) all of Greencastle and 4 sisters: Judy Myers (Joe) of Saltillo, Dena Hockenberry of Chambersburg, Helen Burger (Chris) of Mercersburg and Samantha Stiffler of Chambersburg;  several generations of nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece.

A memorial service will be held October 23, 2021 at 2 PM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run.  The family will receive friends prior to the service between 1 and 2 PM.  In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to help defray expenses. www.agettlakjer.com
