Kathy R. Thoman, 50, of Shade Gap, passed away in her home on Monday, June 6, 2022, following an illness.   She was the beloved wife of Keith A. Thoman.

Kathy was born December 7, 1971, in Carlisle, a daughter of Nancy Mae (Strayer) McCoy Weibley of Newville and the late John William McCoy.

When Kathy was a third grader, the children were assigned to write an essay of their choosing and Kathy chose to write about Mel Blanc.  Out of the 1,500 submitted works, Kathy was selected the winner and read her essay on PBS in State College.   She graduated from Big Springs High School, Newville, in 1990.

Kathy's employment position was Lead Warehouse at the Carlisle Barracks Commissary.

She adored her grandchildren and was a very giving person.  She loved horses, the outdoors, camping and hiking.  More recently she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

In addition to her mother, Nancy, and stepfather, Charles Weibley, she is survived by 4 children; Nick Caler, Abbey Caler, Katie Thoman and Brad Thoman, all of Newville; 6 grandchildren and 2 brothers, John Eric McCoy and Terry Wayne McCoy.  Also surviving are her parents-in-law, Donald E. and Sandra F. Thoman, of Shippensburg and her special friend, Mildred Brown, of Newville.

Relatives and friends may greet the family June 25, 2022 after 11 AM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run and attend her Memorial Service at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Wayne A. Shamer officiating.     www.agettlakjer.com
