Laura Jane Wilhelm, 81, of Metal Township, Fort Loudon, passed away peacefully November 2, 2022, in Chambersburg Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Franklin and Ida (Young) Hann.

Following her husband's honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1960, they married and settled on the family farm in Metal Township.  It was there she gained her skills as homemaker raising her loving boys.  She had a passion for cooking, gardening and planting flowers. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and various works with fabric and sewing.  She will always be remembered as a person that took a keen interest in God's creatures. She rescued numerous animals, domestic and wild and nursed them back to good health.  In her later years, she developed an obsession with bird feeding and watching mainly the hummingbirds.

Those cherishing her memory include her sons, Kevin of Pittsburgh, Frederick (Angee) and Timothy (Lisa) of Fort Loudon and Rodney (Kathy) of Doylesburg, also two foster sons, Emmett Washington (Tiffany) of Fort Loudon and Antoine Coleman of Philadelphia and her furry companion, Buffy;  twelve grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother, James Hann of McKees Rocks, PA and sister, Patricia Friend of Pueblo, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Frederick H. Wilhelm, who passed on April 3rd, 2017, and a son, Danny Wilhelm, on November 10, 2018; his companion, Margaret Sites, survives of Roxbury.
