Lena Hope Parson, 79, of St. Thomas, formerly of Shade Gap, passed away August 19, 2023 in WellSpan York Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary E. Parson in 1991.

Born October 1, 1943, at home in Orbisonia, she was a daughter of the late Ira Daniel Wasson, Jr. and Dorothy Caroline (Krause) Hoffman.  She graduated from the Scotland School for Veterans Children in 1963.  She had worked for the former G.S. Electric and Sunnyway in Chambersburg.

Mrs. Parson was an enthusiastic gardener and had pleasure in canning her harvests.  She also enjoyed salmon fishing, loved Alan Jackson, the Dallas Cowboys, watching western movies and was an Earnhardt racing fan. Her greatest pleasure came when spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.

Surviving children are Delores Downin of Mt. Union, Brenda Downin, Doylesburg, Erwin Parson, Blairs Mills and Carol Taylor, Hagerstown, MD and her grandchildren, Edward Downin, Rebecca Downin, William Johnston, Houston Wilson, Dalton Beaver, Cierra Beaver, Nikki Reed, Erika Parson, Brooke Bair, Bailee Parson, Jessy Richmond, Gary Lee and Robert Lee and great grandchildren.  Also surviving. is a brother, Ralph Hoffman of Neelyton and sisters, Dottie Ann Wasson in Wyoming, Vickie Lane and her husband, Max, and Debbie Hoffman, all of Three Springs.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginny Parson, a son, Donnie Parson a stillborn daughter, Linda Sue and a sister, Ruth Brechbiel.
