Lewis Lee Willis, 81, of Shippensburg, passed away July 31, 2024, in Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born December 13, 1942, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Lewis Ebert and Emma Tanger (Keller) Willis and graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1960.

In his earlier years Lewis operated a dairy farm in Shippensburg, along with working as a tunnel guard on the turnpike.  In 1974 he began a career of 30 years with Grove Manufacturing where he worked as a welder until retiring in 2004.

He was a member of the Minnequa Club 375, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, American Legion Post 223, Moose Lodge 2500, the Hub City Club and Senior Citizens Group No. 1, all of Shippensburg.  He formerly attended the First Church of God in Shippensburg.

Mr. Willis loved spending time at the family cabin in Cowans Gap.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and working outdoors, which brought him much pleasure.  Lewis is remembered as being very fond of dogs and enjoyed the friendship of several dachshunds.

Surviving are 3 children: daughter, Tracie Jean Willis of Chambersburg, and sons, Timothy Lee Willis (Rachel) and Thomas Daniel Willis (Sara) both of Shippensburg, 5 adopted children, Terrance Willis (Brandi), Lewistown, PA, Steve Willis (Lisa), Iowa, Daniel Willis, Saudi Arabia, Kirk Willis, Waynesboro, Roger Willis, Shippensburg, and a foster son, Barry Thrush (Christa) of Shippensburg.  Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 1 sister, Susan "Susie" Willis, Shippensburg and his companion of 18 years, Joyce Rhinehart of Shippensburg.  He was anticipating the birth of his first great grandson in October.  Lewis had previously been married to Jean (Hagedorn) Willis of Shippensburg for 30 years, the mother of his children.

He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Rosalie and Cameron and a brother William "Bill" Willis.
