Louetta L. Varner, 85, of Spring Run, entered into rest September 8, 2024 in Hershey Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. "Junior" Varner in 2006.

Born April 1, 1939, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Louise (Johnston) Johnson.

Louetta was a member of Laurel Grove United Methodist Church, Spring Run.   In her earlier years, she worked at the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg.  She was fondly remembered by her family for her love of cooking and her familiar greeting upon arrival to her home was "are you hungry?"   Her places of employment as a cook were at the former Howard Johnsons on the turnpike at Willow Hill,  Elliott's Diner, T.J's, Roxbury Ridge Rehab, now Courage to Change, Fannett-Metal Elementary School and Rebekkas  Kitchen.

She especially enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners for the family and she and her late husband, Junior, had the tradition of shopping year-round purchasing Christmas gifts making sure that everyone in the family received a gift at Christmas.   Along with the love and pleasure shared with her family, she also enjoyed music.

Surviving are 4 children; Shelly L. Boggs (Darryl), Dry Run, Gary E. Varner (Theresa), Shippensburg, Timothy G. Varner (Patti), Spring Run and Douglas R. Varner, Fayetteville.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.  Additional survivors include her sisters, Peg Fleagle (Ronald) Amberson, and Rita Glass (Bill), and brother, Fred Johnson (Fern) all of Spring Run.  In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Johnson and her special friend, Bill Greenawalt.

Viewing hours Wed., Sept. 11 between 6 and 8 PM in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, and Thursday, Sept. 12 between 10 and 11 AM in the Amberson United Methodist Church, 18889 Amberson Road, Spring Run, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM, with Pastor Darwin Goshorn officiating.   Interment will follow in the Amberson Union Cemetery.  For those desiring, donations in memory of Louetta, may be made to Laurel Grove United Methodist Church, 17697 Amberson Road, Spring Run, PA 17262.       www.agettlakjer.com
