Obituary

Maxine F. Morris, 99, of Shippensburg, PA passed away peacefully October 5, 2026. She was a resident of Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA for the past 3 years. Maxine was born in Lewistown, PA, a daughter of the late Walter Foore and Esther (Miller) Foore. She was a coal miners’ daughter from Robertsdale, PA and had six siblings.

She graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1945 and then attended Huntington Business School and later Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ. From a young age she worked as household help; on a factory line, and in food service. She married Robert A. Morris, Jr. and became an Army wife. They purchased a farm in Amberson, Pa in 1958. Maxine was a full-time dairy farmer and worked as a teller at Valley Bank and Trust in Dry Run, PA. When Robert was transferred from Letterkenny Army Depot to Ft. Monmouth, NJ she became a loan officer at the Fort Monmouth Federal Credit Union and later at Members First Federal Credit Union in Mechanicsburg, PA, where she retired, and they relocated to Shippensburg. Maxine and Robert were married for 56 years before his passing in 2002.

Maxine is survived by two sons and spouses: Max/Nancy and James/Gloria and her niece, Jeannette Cisney Lauck, who she raised. She is also survived by her grandchildren/spouses: Laura/Phil, Jennifer/Brian, Steven/Kimberly, Peter/Lori, Aaron/Shanita, Geoffrey/Jessica and Katie. Her great grandchildren: Mathew, Luke, James, Andrew, Emma, Abbie, Steven, and Isla and great grand baby, Lilly. Also surviving are her brother, Hilton/Ruth Anne and sister-in law, Dolly and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maxine enjoyed farm life, square dancing, traveling the country, and had many friends with whom she played cards and dominos. She was close to her family, and later in life her companion and friend, Sherman St Clair. She was a long -time member of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church (P.O. Box 128 Spring Run, PA 17262) or Adoration Hospice (1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011)

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Upper Valley Presbyterian Church, 16950 Main St. Spring Run, on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Her visitation will begin at 11:00 followed by the service at 12:00 noon. The family will have a private interment at a later date. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff, and the many friends and neighbors, who made her last days comfortable and well loved.
