Michael Lee "Snake" Ellerman, 70, of New Bloomfield, formerly of Landisburg, passed away September 10, 2025, in his New Bloomfield residence.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (Hensley) Ellerman.

Born August 1, 1955, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Carl Luther and Dona Mildred (Lightner) Ellerman.  He graduated from West Perry High School in 1973, and served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1974 until being Honorably Discharged as an SP4 in 1977.

Mike retired from the Navy Depot.  For the last 15 years, he cooked holiday meals, managed the grounds and grew vegetables for all the other veterans living in the Eagle Veterans Building.

He was a member of the American Legion in Newport, the VFW, and Order of the Owls Club, also both in Newport, as well as the VFW in New Bloomfield and the Hunter's Valley Sportsmen Association.

Surviving are his sons, Michael Hensley (Michelle) and Daniel Ellerman (Jennifer) and 9 grandchildren, children, Connor, Sarah, Jakob, Dominion, Kennah, Danielle, Blake, Christian and Ryleigh.  Also surviving are 3 sisters, Julie Moist (Daniel), Beverly Leigh (Richard) and Carla Zielinski (Stanley) and his caregiver and niece, Tyann Hess and many additional nieces and nephews.

Services: October 18, 2025 at 12 Noon, a flag ceremony at Newport American Post 177 and at 1 PM a Celebration of Life at the VFW Post 34, also in Newport.
