Ronald L. Mentzer, 83, of Shippensburg, passed away Jan. 27, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred "Kathy" (Statler) Mentzer on August 15, 2022.

Mr. Mentzer was born Oct. 21, 1940, in Bloserville.  Raised on the family farm, he was a son of the late Lester and Rosie (Lay) Mentzer.  He retired after 35 years with the former Frog & Switch Steel in Carlisle.

Ron was a member of the Newburg First Church of God and the Dreamers Camping Club.

Surviving is a son, Barry Mentzer and his wife, Sherry, of Newburg and 2 stepchildren, Barry D. Ellis and his wife, Vanessa, and Stacey A. Bolton, all of Shippensburg.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mildred, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Mentzer.

A memorial service will be held February 24, 2024, at 1 PM in the Newburg First Church of God, 260 Newburg Road, Newburg, PA 17240, with Megan Gustafson officiating.  A reception will follow the service.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name would be appreciated to the Newburg First Church of God, Visitation Ministry, address above.   www.agettlakjer.com
