Simon Eugene Neil, 73, a lifelong resident of Willow Hill, passed away peacefully in his home on April 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born at home in Willow Hill on May 27, 1950, along with his twin brother, Harry Dean, to the late Simon H. and Mary E. (Runk) Neil.

Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Delores Kay (Dehart) Neil, 2 daughters: Tracy (Carl) Johns of Spring Run and Lori (Jake) Dell of Fort Loudon, 3 grandsons: Nicholas (Morgan) Dell of Mercersburg, Chester (Bethany) Dell of Doylesburg and Billy Dell of Fort Loudon,  2 granddaughters: Maddy and Katie Johns of Willow Hill, 4 great grandsons: Colton, Owen, Clancy and Elliot Dell and 1 great granddaughter, Callie Dell, 1 brother, Dick (Neva) Neil of Willow Hill, 2 sisters, Pat (Samuel) Sollenberger and Connie (John) Wadel, all of Chambersburg, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  Also surviving is a nephew, Doug Sollenberger, whom he considered to be like a son and had many fun times with him.

Simon was a logger early in his life, then worked as a forklift operator at Grove Manufacturing for 28 years, before several illnesses made retirement necessary.  Simon had a lifetime love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting deer and gathering mushrooms with Doug. Riding his four-wheeler, shopping for cars and spending time with his wife, family and friends and his little dog "Bella" brought him much enjoyment.

Simon was quick to laugh and tease everyone and was a strong influence for many in his family.  He will be sincerely missed.

In addition to his parents and infant twin brother, Harry Dean, he  was  also preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Neil and 2 sisters, Goldie Wagner and Bonnie Hockenberry.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 6, after 10 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM in Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastors Marlin "Butch" Neil and Darwin Goshorn, officiating.  The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests donations in his name be made to either Metal Twp.
