Virginia C. Poe, 78, a lifelong resident of Path Valley, entered into rest December 9, 2025, in the Chambersburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg Pa.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne "Jake" J. Poe in 2017.

Born December 8, 1947, in Dry Run, she was a daughter of the late Frank H. and Marie A. (Cramer) Piper.  She was raised in Dry Run and lived in "The Valley" all her life and was a 1966 graduate of Fannett-Metal High School.

In her early years, Virginia was employed at the former Spring Run Sewing Factory. Virginia & Jake both were employed at the Chambersburg Cold Storage. She then drove a school van for a number of years transporting Fannett-Metal students to the Franklin County Learning Center in Chambersburg.

She was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church, and she very much enjoyed being a "Secret Sister" at church.

Virginia was very family-oriented and was a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She particularly enjoyed researching family genealogy and history of the valley, including a story for the Path Valley Picinic book. Virginia enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing and would welcome anyone to sit with her. She also had a passion for looking after the local community cats and was very faithful about their care and well-being.

Surviving are two sons, Chuck Hammond (Jody Jones) and Keith Hammond (Missy), all of Concord, 3 grandchildren, Courtney Campbell (Dalton McQuade), Kaitelyn Hammond (Austin Hartzell) and Kolby Hammond (Taylor) and two great grandchildren, Bryce and Cole Campbell.   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Chilcote.

The family will receive friends December 20, 2025, from 10:30 AM until her memorial service at 11 AM at Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastor Darwin Goshorn, officiating. Interment at Path Valley Cemetery.
